Branding Shouldn’t Feel Overwhelming. It Can Be Fun

Branding is more than a logo, a color palette, or a website. It’s about creating something that feels aligned, purposeful, and built to last.

When I started developing Rebecca Susko Consulting, I wanted my brand to reflect me—strategic yet friendly, polished yet organic. I naturally gravitate toward jewel tones, classic typography, and minimal design, but I also wanted a connection to my more creative, nature-inspired side. That’s where Wild Rabbit Collective was born.

At the same time, I was building a brand for my first client, Classic Cakes by Carrie, which required a completely different approach. Her brand needed to be warm, nostalgic, and community-driven, evoking family traditions, handwritten recipes, and the scent of fresh cake in the oven.

Two extremely different brand identities, but both required the same strategic foundation to ensure clarity, consistency, and long-term growth.

That’s where Secret AI Society’s Create Your Personal Brand Identity in 3 Days course came in. It was timely, insightful, and gave me a structured process that I now use with my own clients. The biggest takeaways?

✅ A brand is more than just how it looks. It’s a framework that connects your story, values, and audience.

✅ Branding isn’t just about visuals. It’s about what feels right and creates impact.

✅ With a solid branding structure, the process isn’t overwhelming—it’s exciting.

The Framework: Creating a Brand That Feels Right

If you're starting from scratch or reworking your brand, here’s the process I use to build a brand from the ground up—the same system I apply to my own businesses and clients.

Step 1: Build the Foundation

Before choosing colors and fonts, start with strategy.

Brand Mood Board & Aesthetic Direction

✅ Do a Pinterest deep dive and curate images that evoke the emotion, mood, and essence of your brand.

✅ Think about textures, color palettes, typography, and lifestyle inspiration.

✅ Identify recurring themes. Is your brand minimalist or expressive, soft and organic, or bold and high-contrast?

Brand Archetype & Personality

✅ What brand personality fits you best? Are you a Creator, Sage, Explorer, or Magician?

✅ Choose three brand personality traits (e.g., Bold, Playful, Thoughtful).

✅ Align your tone, imagery, and messaging with this identity.

Brand Themes & Core Narrative

✅ What is your brand’s story? What does it stand for, fight for, or inspire?

✅ Who is your ideal audience, and how do you want them to feel?

✅ Craft your brand one-liner (e.g., "Helping creative entrepreneurs turn overwhelm into clarity with strategic storytelling.").

By understanding who you are, what you stand for, and whom you serve, you create a solid foundation for your brand to grow.

Step 2: Logo, Typography & Color Palette

Once your brand identity is clear, it’s time to bring it to life visually.

Logo Design & Variations

✅ Choose a logo style that aligns with your brand. Should it be simple, hand-lettered, bold, or vintage?

✅ Pay attention to secondary logo variations like submarks and favicons.

Typography & Color Palette

✅ Choose two to three complementary fonts:

Serif (Elegant & classic) → Playfair, Didot

Sans-serif (Modern & clean) → Lato, Montserrat

Handwritten/script (Creative & personal) → Blacktear, Brittany

✅ Select a five-color palette that reflects your brand’s personality.

✔ Ensure good contrast and readability for websites and marketing materials.

✔ Example: Deep blues for trust, warm neutrals for approachability.

Step 3: Website & Digital Presence

A brand isn’t complete without a strong online presence.

Website Strategy & Structure

✅ Focus on core pages: Home, About, Services, Blog, and Contact.

✅ Keep navigation simple and conversion-driven, with strong CTAs.

✅ Ensure branding remains consistent across all touchpoints.

SEO & Content Strategy

✅ Write brand-aligned copy that speaks directly to your audience’s needs.

✅ Optimize for SEO with strategic keywords, meta descriptions, and image alt text.

✅ Start a blog to position yourself as an authority and drive organic traffic.

Social Media Consistency

✅ Align profile photos, bios, and messaging across platforms.

✅ Establish content pillars to keep messaging consistent (Educational, Inspirational, Behind-the-Scenes).

✅ Plan the first 9-12 grid posts to create a cohesive brand impression.

Step 4: Brand Guide & Long-Term Growth

Branding isn’t a one-time project—it evolves over time.

Brand Guide & Consistency

✅ Document logo usage, typography, and color guidelines.

✅ Define brand voice, tone, and content direction.

✅ Ensure everyone working with your brand stays aligned.

Growth & Content Strategy

✅ Plan your brand launch with an email campaign, social announcements, and PR.

✅ Outline a 90-day content strategy to maintain visibility.

✅ Explore partnerships and community engagement for long-term growth.

Let’s Make Your Brand Work for You

Yes, you can DIY your brand. But there’s a reason businesses invest in professionals to guide the process. Branding isn’t just about choosing fonts and colors—it’s about ensuring everything aligns strategically so you can show up with confidence and clarity.

If all this feels overwhelming, let me make it easier.

When we work together, I bring:

✅ A focused brand strategy session to define your message and look.

✅ A fully developed brand identity—logo, typography, colors, and brand guide.

Your business deserves a brand that makes you proud—one that feels real, strategic, and built to scale.
